Olin jo lopettamassa tätä blogia, sillä taannoin diagnosoitu hankalahko psoriasiksen muoto vaikuttaa jo kynsien ulkonäköön. Jos kuitenkin jaksatte katsella näitä kuvia, voin laittaa silloin tällöin joitakin koristeluja edelleen.

Vaan itse asiaan: ystäväni Papun blogista löysin tähtisumumanikyyrin ja siihen Asamin opastusvideon. Oli ihan pakko kokeilla itsekin! Paremminkin olisi voinut onnistua, mutta ehkä seuraavalla kerralla.

Peruslakkana yksi kerros China Glazen tummansinistä "Little Drummer Boy" lakkaa, joka peitti ihan mukavasti. Sitten töpöttelin China Glazen hologrammilakkaa "2Nite", joka antoi kivan sumuisen vaikutelman (näkyy nimettömässä parhaiten), mutta hologrammiefekti ei kyllä näy yhtään. Ensi kerralla jotain muuta. Vielä sinne tänne hiukan punaruskeaa Zoya "Tiffany" -lakkaa, päälle kerros Goshin moniväristä glitteriä ja Poshén pikakuivattaja.

I was about to close this blog, because of the unpleasant form of psoriasis is affecting my nails already. But if you, my dear reader, can still look at these pictures, I'll post some nail arts once in a while.

But let's get to the point: I found a lovely stardust manicure in my friend Papu's blog and also a tutorial video by Asami. I just had to try! I could have done a better job, but perhaps next time I'll be wiser.

The base colour is dark blue "Little Drummer Boy" from China Glaze. One coat was enough. Then I sponged some China Glaze holographic polish "2Nite" diagonally over the nail. It gave a nice, cloudy effect (best visible in the ring finger), but the holo effect doesn't show at all in the final mani. Perhaps some other polish next time. Then I sponged some brownish red Zoya "Tiffany" randomly here and there. One coat of Gosh sparkle glitter on top and of course Poshé fast dryer.

"Ranskikset" - "French Tips"

Kun ei kerran itse osaa tehdä kunnon tippivärjäyksiä tai -leimauksia, on turvauduttava vippaskonsteihin. Taannoin tilasin Nail Delights -kaupasta muun ohessa tippitarroja (Design French Sticker). Päätin lopulta kokeilla niitä nyt, kun kynsillä on hiukan mittaa. Jospa suojaisivat kärkiä katkeamiselta kun kaivelen tuolla puutarhassa.

Lakkasin ensin normaalisti Nubarin Ridge Filling aluslakalla ja kolmella kerroksella henkäyksenkevyttä Nubarin "Bikini Blush" läpikuultavaa, hennon persikkaista glitterilakkaa. Päälle Poshén pikakuivatus ja yön yli nukkuminen. Liimailin tarrat paikoilleen ja ohjeen mukaan viilasin kärjistä yli menevät osat. Tarra on jotain muovin tapaista ainetta, joten viilailla saikin ihan kunnolla. Onneksi löysin vanhan metalliviilan - ei näihin raaski lasiviilaa tuhota. Kaikille kynsille ei oikein löytynyt sopivaa leveyttä, mutta muuten hauskat. Näitä on vaikka minkälaisella kuviolla, pitänee tilata jossain vaiheessa lisää, jos hyvin toimivat.

Komeuden kruunaa kerros Nubarin Diamont Seal & Shine päällyslakkaa ja sen kuivatukseen Nubarin Freeze Dry öljyisiä tippoja, jotka toden totta kuivattavat märän lakan samantien.

As it seems that I never learn to make decent french manicure neither by painting nor by stamping, I had to take advantage of "plan B". Some time ago I added couple of Design French Sticker -gizmos to my shopping cart in Nail Delights. Now I decided to give them a try, when my nails are a bit longer. And they really could use some extra protection when I'm digging and scratching in the garden.

First I put on one coat of Nubar Ridge Filling Base Coat and then three coats of Nubar's "Bikini Blush", which is feather light sheer glitter with a hint of soft peachy colour. Finished with Poshé Quick Dry top coat and left it like that till the next day. Then I fiddled the stickers in place and filed the excess part off, as the directions told me. The stickers are some kind of plastic, so I really had to do some filing. Gladly I found an old steel file - I don't want to destroy my glass file with plastic and glue residue. The stickers had not enough suitable sizes for all my nails, so I had to take the closest one. These are quite fun, and there are lots of different designs in the shop. If they are durable enough, I'm sure to buy some more.

I sealed the tips with Nubar's Diamont Seal & Shine and dried it with Nubar Freeze Dry drops, oily stuff that really dries the polish in a moment. Nice helper, when you're in a hurry.

China Glaze OMG "2Nite"

Olen laiminlyönyt kiireen keskellä kynsieni lakkauksen täysin. Ihme, etteivät ne ole katkenneet. Mutta kasvaneet ovat! Pituus alkaa olla sitä luokkaa, että päätin varmistaa komeuden keston kunnon lakkauksella.

Värin valinta aurinkoisena kevätpäivänä, kirkasta sinitaivasta katsellessa, ei ollut vaikeaa: uskomaton hologrammilakka China Glazen OMG-kokoelmasta: 2Nite. Lakka on intensiivisen sininen ja holoefekti on yhtä upea kuin hopeisessa OMG-sävyssä. Tosin ei sitten varjossa... väri on suorastaan arkinen.

Aiemmista kokemuksista poiketen lakkaus sujui kuin tanssi, kun käytin Goshin Fix Base Coat pohjalakkaa, josta kerroin täällä. Ei kaljuja kohtia, ei murheita.

Päällä Poshén pikakuivattaja, värilakkaa kaksi kerrosta.

I have been neglecting my nails totally for a few weeks, there has been so much work and other things to do. Being such a long time without any polish but growing nicely, my nails now really needed some protection. Surprisingly I haven't broke them yet!

I was very easy to pick a color watching the clear blue spring sky sparkling with rays of sun: the incredible holo polish from China Glaze OMG collection: 2Nite. The colour is very intensive blue and the holographic effect is just as perfect as in the silver OMG. But in the shade the polish looks... quite ordinary.

This time applying this holo was like a dream, which it really wasn't last time. Now I used Gosh Fix Base Coat, and no bald spots, no troubles. I posted about it here.

Topcoat is Poshé Quick Dry and I have two coats of colour polish.

Kevät - Spring, Orly "Aspen"

On pitänyt töissä niin kiirettä, ettei energiaa ole riittänyt muuhun kuin peruslakkaukseen. Nyt oli niin keväinen viikonloppu, että teki mieli kehittää keväinen manikyyri. Sehän käy helposti: otetaan pastellisininen Orly "Aspen" ja koristellaan kukkatarroilla. :)

Pohjalla kerros, paikoin kaksikin, Nubarin Ridge Filling Base Coat. Päällä kaksi kerrosta Orlyn Aspen, Poshén pikakuivattaja päälle. Hetken päästä sain tarrat paikoilleen ja päälle vielä kerros Nubarin Diamont Seal & Shine. Nyt eivät tarrojen läpinäkyvät muovit menneet ruttuun, hurraa!

Aspen on kaunis väri, mutta koostumus on aika hankala levitettävä. Lakka on paksuhkoa, mutta jättää hyvin herkästi kaljuja kohtia. Myös siveltimen jäljet jäävät näkyviin. Lakka suorastaan tuppautuu kynsinauhoille, eli siistimisessä on kova työ. Mutta kannatti! Tarrat ovat jostain aikoja sitten ostetusta paketista, lähikuvassa näkyy niiden herkkä kauneus ja pienet kimallehippuset.

Lately I have been terribly busy at work, with no energy left to fiddle with manicures. Just some basic polishing, that's it. But now we had a weekend with sun and a hint of spring in the air, so I felt like doing something spring-y with my nails. And what's easier than take light pastel blue Orly polish "Aspen" and some flower stickers. :)

Base coat is Nubar Ridge Filling Base coat, then two coats of Orly "Aspen" and quick dry with Poshé. After a while I put on the stickers, which I bought a long time ago (can't remember from where). On top I have one coat of Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine, which doesn't destroy the plastic of the stickers. Hooray, we have a girly spring mani!

"Aspen" is a very pretty colour with subtle shimmer, but it's difficult to apply. The polish is somewhat thick, but I get bald spots anyway. Brush marks are visible and the polish just likes to "climb up" to my cuticles, so it's quite a job to get the mani cleaned. But it's all worth it! Just look at the pretty sticker in the close-up picture, isn't the flower pretty with those tiny flakes of glitter?

Valentine's Nails with Misa

Auringonpaisteen kunniaksi tämä viikko on menty Valentine's-henkisillä kynsillä. Värilakkana Misa "Burnished Bronze", josta aurinko tietysti vei kauneimman pronssisävyn. Pullon yläkulmassa näkyy kimalletta hieman. Lakkaa kaksi kerrosta, levittyy kuin unelma ja kuivuu nopeasti.

Koristeluna valkoisia kukka- ja terälehtitarroja, päällä yksi kerros Nubarin Diamont Seal & Shine -päällyslakkaa. Aluslakkana Nubarin Ridge Filling Base Coat.

Lakkaus ja koristelut on tehty sunnuntaina ja tätä kirjoittaessani on siirrytty jo torstain puolelle. Kaikki tarrat ovat edelleen paikoillaan, ainoastaan kynsien kärjissä on työviikon aiheuttamaa normaalia pientä kulumaa. Onnistunut kokonaisuus, olen tyytyväinen.

This week we have had bright sunshine and Valentine's Day on Monday. So I have a mani to celebrate those. The polish is Misa "Burnished Bronze", and of course the winter sun was too harsh and took the warm shimmer away. You can see some of the shimmer on the upper right corner of the bottle. I'm wearing two coats, which is opaque on my short nails. Misa applies very nicely and dries quickly.

For decoration I used white flower stickers and sealed them in with just one coat of Nubar "Diamont Seal & Shine". And of course the base coat is Nubar "Ridge Filling Base Coat".

I did the mani on sunday, took this photo on monday and now, when I'm writing this, we are about one hour on Thursday's side. All stickers are in place and mani is OK, only slight tip wear because of the constant typing at work. I'm very satisfied.

China Glaze "TTYL" w Gosh Fix Base Coat

Pakko oli laittaa hologrammilakka, vaikka se korostaakin keskisormen kynnen kärjen lohjennutta kohtaa.

Satuin nimittäin käymään Sokoksessa ja sieltä tarttui mukaan Gosh "Fix Base Coat", jota laquerized-blogissa tuumailtiin vastineeksi Nfu Oh:n "Aqua Base" -aluslakalle. Jokainen hologrammilakkoja käyttänyt varmasti tietää, mikä painajainen niiden tasaiseksi saamisessa on. Kolmekaan kerrosta ei välttämättä takaa lopputulosta ilman "kaljuja" kohtia. Päätin kokeilla, koska Nfu Oh on hankalasti saatavaa, kun taas Gosh-lakkoja on joka Sokoksen kosmetiikkaosastolla (ainakin). Aqua Base näyttää nettikaupassa toki hinnaltaan edullisemmalta (17 ml pullo 5,37 e), mutta kun siihen lisää alv 23 % plus postikulut 9,50 e, alkaa kauppakeskuksen hyllystä poimittu Gosh (8,50 e) tuntua ihan kilpailukykyiseltä. :)

Maidonvalkoinen Fix Base Coat muuttui kuivana kirkkaaksi ja jätti kynnelle hieman tahmaisen tunteen, joten olin toiveikas. Ensimmäinen kerros hololakkaa... ja täysin tasainen kerros, vaikka leveille kynsille joudun lakkaa sutimaan useampaan kertaan. Ensimmäinen kunnollinen hololakkaus kerralla. Uskomatonta!

Itse lakka on China Glazen OMG-kokoelman TTYL, persikkainen pinkihtävä sävy, jota kutsuisin lähinnä nudeholoksi. Sopii edelleen näihin surkeisiin kynsiin. Hologrammiefekti ei ole niin huikea kuin hopeanvärisessä OMG-lakassa, mutta ihan riittävä. Värilakkaa on kaksi kerrosta ja viimeistelynä tietysti Poshén pikakuivattava päällyslakka.

I just had to put on a holographic polish, although it shows my sad looking middle finger nail just too well.

You see, I visited our local shopping center and from their cosmetics department I found Gosh "Fix Base Coat", which was discussed earlier in laquerized's blog. It was said to be as good base for holo polishes as the Nfu Oh "Aqua Base". Everybody who has struggled with applying holo polishes knows the problem they have with normal base coats, I'm talking about the "bald spots". Well, I decided to give Gosh a go, because Nfu Oh is somewhat difficult to get in Finland. Gosh polishes are in many superstores. Nfu Oh "Aqua Base" is cheaper, even if you count in the delivery, but I find it easier to grab a Gosh when I'm shopping other things.

Milky white "Fix Base Coat" was totally clear when dry and it felt a bit sticky, so I had my hopes up. First coat of holographic polish... and wow: totally even layer, although I have to brush several times to get coverage for my broad nails. Unbelievable! Excellent!

The polish is China Glaze TTYL from OMG collection. It's peachy, slightly pink-ish in some angles, but I would call it almost "a nude holo". The holo effect is not as stunning as in OMG (the silver one), but it's good enough for short nails. I have two coats of TTYL over one coat of base and of course Poshé quick dry top coat.

Nysäkynnet - Shorties with Zoya

Ensin ajattelin, etten tällä viikolla bloggaa yhtään mitään. Katsokaa nyt noita kynsiparkoja, mitkä nysät! :( Perjantai-iltana otin tarrat ja lakat pois ja tein kynsihoidon öljyineen päivineen. Lauantaina siivotessa meni kaksi kynttä poikki, keskisormen kynsi ihan rajasta. Auts. Pakko ne muutkin oli sitten nylpätä. Opinpahan sen, että aina pitää olla kynsilakkaa. Aina.

Mieli muuttui kuitenkin tänään, kun päivällä paistoi aurinko. Ensimmäinen kunnon aurinkopäivä tänä vuonna! Pitihän sitä juhlistaa ottamalla kuva noista nysistä lakattuna ihanalla, vasta kotiin saapuneella hankinnalla: "Tiffany" Zoyan Fire and Ice -kokoelmasta. Kuva voisi olla parempikin väreiltään, lakka on kaunis vanhan ruusun punainen (vai olisiko persikkainen) kuparihohde, täynnä sädehtivää mikroglitteriä. Täydellinen lakka nysäkynsille; ei kiinnitä liikaa huomiota mutta peittää kaikki virheet.

Pohjalla Nubarin Ridge Filler aluslakka, päällä Poshén pikakuivattaja. Värilakkaa kolme ohutta kerrosta.

At first I thought to skip this week's posting - look at my poor nails. :( On Friday evening I took off old polish and stickers, and did a thorough nail treatment with oil massage and everything. Then, during house cleaning on Saturday, I broke two nails, the middle finger suffered worst. Ouch. I just had to cut all my nails down. Again. Well, I learned from this that I have to use nail polish always. And I mean always.

Today I suddenly changed my mind of blogging, because we had the first bright SUNSHINE day this year! I grabbed my camera during lunch break and speeded out to -15 degrees. Well, I should have taken more time fiddling with the camera, but it was so cold... From the photo you can get some idea what my wonderful new "Tiffany" polish from Zoya's Fire and Ice collection looks like. It's lovely and vibrant peachy or rosy copper colour with tons of microglitter. It looks almost foil-like in artificial lighting. Also it is just the perfect colour for my suffered nails: it's not too obvious but covers every flaw.

The base coat is Nubar's Ridge Filler and on the top is Poshé quick dry. I used three thin coats of Tiffany.

Nubar "Fiery Red"

Mikä ihana lakka: Nubarin "Fiery Red"! Ei ehkä tulenpunainen, mutta raivonpunainen. :) Kuvassa keinovalo antaa aavistuksen liian kirkkaanpunaisen sävyn, luonnossa syvemmän punainen, enemmän magentaa. Upea, hehkuva väri. Lakka levittyy kuin unelma, kaksi kerrosta takaa täyden peittävyyden. Alla Nubarin oma Ridge Filler aluslakka.

Tällä kertaa kokeilussa hieman erilaiset tarrat, joissa ei ole sitä ympäröivää muovia lainkaan. Eipä rypistynyt, mutta tarra on jäykempi ja vaati pientä korjailua: huomaa pikkusormen sisäreunalla hieman kohollaan oleva kukan terälehti. Laitoin kuvauksen jälkeen hiukan lisää Nubarin Diamontia ja painoin terävien pinsettien kärjellä kulmaa, kunnes se suostui jäämään paikoilleen. Näitä tarroja lisää! Ennen tarrojen laittoa kuivatin värilakkakerrokset kunnolla Poshén pikakuivattajalla. Pahoitteluni kuvan tiukasta rajauksesta: kädet ovat tähän aikaan vuodesta hirveän kuivat, mikään rasva ei tunnu riittävän. Kynsinauhatkin ovat kuin riisipaperia, ryppyiset ja rutikuivat. Peukalon sivussa on sellainen ihon repeämä, etten kehdannut jättää sitä näkyviin.

What a lovely polish: "Fiery Red" by Nubar! Not quite the shade of fire, rather it of fierce anger. :) In the photo artificial light makes the colour too bright, it's deeper and a bit more magenta shade in natural light. Anyway, the shade is brilliant, deep and glowing. It applies like a dream, and just two coats gives full opacity. I used Nubar Ridge Filler base coat.

This time I was testing another type of stickers for some nail art. These ones don't have any excess plastic surrounding the sticker. And voilá: no ugly borders, no crimping. These are more rigid, so they needed some fiddling with: you can see one tiny petal sticking up in my pinkie. I put a little more top coat over it and held the petal down with the point of my sharp tweezers, until it was properly stuck. I bought these from Nail Delights web shop, look for "Colourful Stickers". I want more of these!

Before putting on the stickers, I dried the previous coats of polish with Poshé quick dry, just to avoid scratching. And I'm sorry for the tight cropping of the photo. My hands are in awful shape (just like my cuticles) this time of year, result of the cold and windy weather. The skin is very dry and all wrinkled, no matter what kind of lotion or cream I use. Now I have an awful looking break on the side of my thumb, so I had to hide it.

OPI Sahara Sapphire

Uusi vuosi, uudet kujeet. :)

Tänä vuonna yritän panostaa enemmän koristelujen kokeiluun ja opetteluun. Aloitetaan helpoimmasta: kimalteiset tarrat. Ostin tarra-arkin jostain halpiskaupasta, en muista enää mistä. Suloisia kuvioita ja sopivasti kimalletta, mutta voi: vaikka laitoin tarran päälle ensin tavallista Lumenen päällyslakkaa ja vasta sen jälkeen pikakuivattajaa, niin reunat meni ruttuun. Mitä tein väärin?

Värilakkana sinertävänharmaan ja violetin sävyjä näyttävä OPIn "Sahara Sapphire". Sävy on kaunis, mutta yllätyksekseni käyttämälläni lakkausyhdistelmällä sain sen kuplille, vaikka annoin kuivua välillä. Lakka on mukava levittää ja peittää jo kahdella kerroksella.

Aluslakkana Poshe, samoin pikakuivattajana.

New year, new tricks. :)

This year I try to experiment with different types of nail art. So, I started with the easiest: glittery stickers. I bought them some time ago from some european sale shop, I can't remember which one. Pretty stickers with just right amount of subtle glitter... but even though I put one coat of normal Lumene top coat over the sticker before applying Poshe quick dry, the borders of my stickers got crimped. What did I do wrong?

The polish is OPI's lovely "Sahara Sapphire" which is something between grey-ish blue and light lilac. I love the shade, and the polish was easy to apply and opaque in two coats. For my big surprise I got a few bubbles, although I let the coats dry for some time. Maybe it's the combination of polish and topcoats? I used Poshe basecoat and quick dry top coat.

Jääkuningatar - Ice Queen

Joulunaika meni punaisissa lakkauksissa ja sellaisessa pimeydessä, ettei millään saanut kelvollisia kuvia lakkauksista. Joulukynnet tähtikoristeluineenkin jäivät "arkistoon" kuvien surkeuden takia.

Nyt oli sen verran päivänvaloa, tosin pilvien takaa, että sain jonkunlaisen kuvan uuden vuoden "töihinmenokynsistä". :)

Pohjalla Poshen aluslakka, sitten kaksi kerrosta vanhaa Maybellinen "White Dream Perle" (nro 60) ja kuorrutuksena kaksi kerrosta Gosh-glitterilakkaa "Magic Star" (nro 562). Päällä Poshen pikakuivattaja. Kyllä kestää!

Harmi vain, että monivärinen glitteri ei kuvassa tule kunnolla esille kynnellä, vain pullossa näkyy hiukan mallia. Kynnet kimaltelevat keinovalossakin kuin jäiset puut (joita ulkosalla kyllä nyt riittää). Rauhallisesti uuteen vuoteen!

All the time around Christmas I was wearing various red polishes, but the weather was so cloudy and days dark, that I had no chance to get decent pictures. Even the crappy pictures of my Christmas nails with starry konading were left "in the archive".

Now we had enough daylight, although behind cloud cover, that I got some kind of a photo of my "back to work" -nails. :)
First one coat of Poshe base coat, then two coats of very sheer Maybelline "White Dream Perle" polish (number 60) and as icing on the cake two coats of Gosh glitter polish "Magic Star" (number 562). All dried with Poshe. This should stay in tact for a few days!

Sadly the multicoloured glitter doesn't show in the photo (as usual). You get some idea of it, when you look at the bottle. Even in artificial light my nails now glissen like ice-covered trees (which we have plenty outside now). Calmly to the new year!

Starry, starry night

Pitkästä aikaa jaksoin kuvata manikyyriäni. Kiireinen syksy jatkuu katastrofaalisen kiireisenä joulunalusaikana. Olen tehnyt peruslakkauksia ja pääasiassa jo esitellyillä lakoilla. Paras manikyyri oli Nubarin glitterilakkaus, joka kesti kaksi viikkoa siistinä!

Tällä kertaa hain talviyön tähtitaikaa lakkaamalla pohjaksi yönsinistä Illamasqua "Phallic" -lakkaa, jossa itsessään on sinistä glitteriä. Lopputulos oli kuitenkin niin hyökkäävän sininen, että päätin keventää vaikutelmaa lisäämällä tähtien tuiketta Wet'n'wild Rock Solid "Sparkling diamonds" hienojakoisella glitterillä.

Pohjaksi laitoin kaksi kerrosta Nubarin ridge filler -aluslakkaa, koska pelkäsin tumman pigmentin imeytyvän kynsiini. Sen päällä kaksi kerrosta Phallicia, yksi kerros glitteriä ja päällä Poshe. Kesti kauniina nipinnapin viikon, jonka jälkeen glitteri alkoi lohkeilla kärjistä.

After a busy autumn came an awfully busy and stressful end of this year. I have used basic manicures and old polishes. The best of those was a mani made with Nubar glitter polish: it lasted nice for two whole weeks!

This time I was trying to catch the starry magic of winter night, as we have very cold and snowy beginning of this winter. I took out the night skye blue Illamasqua "Phallic", which has blue glitter in it. The result was so stunningly blue that I decided to soften it a little with some more twinkling of stars: very fine glitter polish "Sparkling diamonds" from Wet'n'wild Rock Solid.

First I put on two coats of Nubar's ridge filling base coat, because I feared the strong pigment may stain my nails. Then two coats of Phallic, one coat of glitter and Poshe quick dry.This mani lasted barely one week and then the glitter began to chip.

Miners "Molten"

Esittelyssä toinen ostamani Minersin shimmerilakka, ihanan kuparinen "Molten". Tästä onnistuin saamaan kuvan sekä auringossa että varjossa. Eron huomaa, vaikka kimalle ei aurinkokuvassa näykään ihan täydessä hehkussaan.

Sävy on ihana, mutta keinovalossa ja varjossa näkyvä "likaisuus" häiritsee pahasti. Minersit ovat helppoja levittää eivätkä kutistu pahasti pikakuivattajan kanssa. Näissä kuvissa tosin näkyy muutama painuma, mutta se on omaa aikaansaannostani. Pitääkö sitä hosua, kun lakka on vielä hieman kosteaa. :(

Today I'm showing You another shimmer polish by Miners, lovely copper shade called "Molten". The colour is just perfect warm copper, not too golden. I even managed to get a picture of this both in the sun and in the shade. You can see the difference in shimmer, although my camera refused to catch the shine in the sunny photo.

I really love the colour, but the "dirty" look (disappearance of shimmer) in shade and artificial light is really disturbing. Miners polishes apply quite nicely and they don't shrink much when I put quick drying top coat on. In these photos You can see some dents, but they are all my fault. Why I have to go around poking my nails on things when the polish is only half dried. :(

Miners "Dancing In The Moonlight"

Joku jossain blogikommentissa kaipaili esittelyjä Miners-lakoista. Olen niitä muutaman ostanut, koska hinta on edullinen. Tässä puolivarjossa kuvattuna hopeinen "Dancing In The Moonlight". Kuva kertonee sen, mikä tämän merkin kimalteisissa lakoissa on vikana. Jopa niin paljon, että tämä kuva on ollut arkistossani pitkään, kun ajattelin jättää koko lakan esittelemättä.

Minersin cremelakka oli todella kaunis ja hyvä levittää. Siispä innostuin ostamaan pari lisää. Tämäkin levittyy kauniisti ja on suorassa auringonpaisteessa häikäisevän kimaltava hopea. Puolivarjokin vielä on kohtuullisen kaunis, mutta keinovalossa kynsillä lakka näyttää lähinnä likaisenharmaalta. Kimallus häviää johonkin... Voihan tätä käyttää, toki, mutta keskikesän aurinkoisina päivinä.

In some blog comment somewhere I saw a wish for introducing Miners polishes. Well, here comes. I have bought a few, because they are very cheap and easy to come by. Here we have light silver microglitter polish "Dancing In The Moonlight". This picture, taken in half shade, tells something about the problem with these polishes. Even such a problem, that I had this photo in my archives since spring (thus those girly flower stickers). I even thought to leave this polish out of my blog.

The first Miners polish I had was a creme, very pretty and easy to apply. I got interested and bought some more. This polish also applies well and I have to say, that in direct sunlight it is stunningly sparkly and pretty silver. Even half shade, like in the photo, is somewhat tolerable, but in artificial light the polish suddenly looks like dirty gray sand on my nails. The glitter effect just vanishes. Of course this polish is usable, but only on a sunny summer day.

Nubar "Risky Rose"

Tänään esittelyssä Nubarin Liquid Metals -kokoelmasta "Risky Rose". Sävy on kuin tumma vanhan ruusun punainen, tai ruskehtava luumu. Ihan nätti syyssävy. Vaikka kokoelman nimi viittaa metalliseen viimeistelyyn, kutsuisin tätä ennemmin frost- tai shimmerilakaksi.

Tämän kokoelman lakat (minulla on muutama) ovat koostumukseltaan tosi paksuja ja levittämisen kanssa saa taiteilla. "Kaljuja" kohtia jää helposti, eikä siveltimen kanssa auta viivytellä. Lakka kuivuu nopeasti on erittäin peittävää: tässä manikyyrissä on vain YKSI kerros värilakkaa! Ajattelin seuraavalla kerralla kokeilla ohentaa tätä Sechen elvyttäjällä, koska kerrostaminen on toivotonta, saa vain kuplia aikaan.

Today I'm introducing to you "Risky Rose" from Nubar Liquid Metals collection. The shade is like a dark old rose or perhaps brownish light plum. Anyway, quite a nice colour for fall. Although the collection name refers to metallic finish, I'd rather call this frost or shimmer.

The polishes in this collection (I have a few) are all very thick and applying is a demanding task. "Bald spots" remain easily and there is no time to fiddle with details. This dries very quickly and is very opaque: in this mani I have just ONE coat of colour polish! I thought to try Seche polish reviver next time to see if it helps. With this formula it is very frustrating to try several coats - I just get bubbles.

Nubar "Absolute"

Miten minä niin tykkään sinisistä lakoista... tässä taas yksi. Nubarin Sparkles-kokoelman ihana hologlitterinen turkoosi lakka "Absolute". Tässä kaksi kerrosta, hiukan näkyvät kärjet läpi. Lyhyille kynsille riittää kyllä hyvin kaksi kerrosta.

Kuvassa rekvisiittana koru, jonka tein tämän lakan kanssa käytettäväksi. Aika hyvin värit osuva yhteen. Harmi, ettei lakan kimallus näy kuvassa kunnolla.

Tästä tuli kertaheitolla yksi suosikkilakkojani. Helppo levittää, tulee tasaista jälkeä ja pysyy todella hyvin. Poistamisessa ei ihan itku tullut, mutta hiukan joutui kyllä liottelemaan, että kaikki hileet lähtivät irti.

How come I seem to like blue polishes so much... here is another one: totally wonderful turquoise polish with tons of holographic glitter, "Absolute" from Nubar's Sparkles collection. Here I'm wearing two coats, and I should have used three coats to get opacity. For shorter nails two coats is fine.

In the photo I have a piece of jewelry which I made to match this polish. They look quite nice together. Sadly the holographic sparkle doesn't show in its full glory in my photo.

This polish became one of my favourites immediately. It's easy to apply, no streaks visible (and neither the irregular surface of my nails!) and it stays on very well. Removing was not as bad as I thought, although it took some patience to get all the tiny particles loose.

I'm back: Nubar "Cozumel Coral"

Onpa vierähtänyt paljon aikaa edellisestä postauksesta! Anteeksi, rakas lukijani. Keväällä kynteni olivat hauraat ja liuskottuneet, katkeilivat ja murtuivat yhtenään. Puutarhatyöt veivät sitten loputkin, vaikka aloitin B-vitamiinikuurin (kiitos vinkistä bloggaajaystävälleni Lucylle!) Nyt on taas pituutta ja uuden kasvun kestävyys tuntuu olevan aivan eri luokkaa kuin ennen.

Ensimmäiseksi esittelyssä Nubarin "Cozumel Coral" Corals-kokoelmasta. Ihastuttava, oranssiin vivahtava korallinpunainen cremelakka! Levittyi kuin unelma ja pysyi todella hyvin. Värilakkaa on kolme kerrosta, silti kynsien kärjet kuultavat vielä hieman läpi. En ole käyttänyt cremelakkoja, koska olen kuvitellut kynsieni epätasaisuuksien näkyvän niissä todella pahasti. Eipä mitään: tässä pahimmat harjanteet näkyvät enintään saman verran kuin kimalteisissa.

Kokeilin ensimmäistä kertaa "kynsitimantteja". Laitoin kosteaan päällyslakkaan pinseteillä pikkuruiset timantit ja päälle vielä kerros Seche Vitea. Luulin, että koristeet putoaisivat ensimmäisessä suihkussa, mutta siinäpä nököttivät koko viikon ja pois saamisessa piti käyttää jopa hieman voimaa.

Oh my, how long time has passed since my last posting! I'm really sorry, my dear reader. You see, in the spring my nails were very brittle, and I broke one after another. The rest were destroyed by gardening, although I had started taking vitamin B mix (thanks to my reader Lucy!). But now, when I have new growth, my nails are stronger than ever.

This time I want to show You a charming, orange-ish coral creme polish, Nubar "Cozumel Coral" from Corals Collection. A real summer polish! The formula is good and applied very well. It also lasted nicely for almos a whole week. I have three coats here, but still my nail tips are showing through a little. Nubar polishes are not very opaque, but they dry well with Poshé or Seche Vite. Can You imagine: I have never used creme polishes, because I always thought my uneven nails would show worse. But no worries, with this creme the ridges show even less than with frosted or shimmer polishes!

I also tried putting some "diamonds" on one nail, my first attempt ever. I took those tiny crystals with small tweezers and gently put them on top of wet top coat. Added one coat of Seche Vite to keep them in place. I was afraid they would come off in the shower, but no: they stayed put the whole week! And I even had to use some force when removing them with the polish.

Adorée "Mandarin Red"

Tällä kertaa esittelyssä Adoréen lakka "Mandarin Red". Väri on ihana, juuri sellainen oranssihtava ja raikas, josta pidän.

Adoréen lakat ovat hyvin ohuita ja läpikuultavia. Lakkaa on tässä kolme kerrosta ja silti kärjet näkyvät vielä läpi. Lakka kyllä pysyy erittäin hyvin eikä levitys tuota harmaita hiuksia.

This time I'm introducing Adorée "Mandarin Red". The colour is lovely, just that orangish-toned, fresh and warm that I like.

Adorée polishes are very thin, almost runny, and quite sheer. Here I have three coats and my nail tips are still visible. On the other hand, these polishes last very well and are quite easy to apply.

China Glaze BFF

Viime päivityksestä onkin vierähtänyt aikaa. Suomen suloinen talvi on näyttänyt pimeimmän puolensa, eli kuvaussäitä ei ole ollut. Kädet ovat hirveän näköiset, aivan rutikuivat tämän pitkän kylmän jakson jälkeen kaikesta rasvaamisesta ja öljyämisestä huolimatta.

Kynsiä olen koettanut joulun jälkeen kasvatella. Ne oli pakko leikata aivan lyhyiksi, koska ne murtuivat jatkuvasti reunoista. Syykin selvisi: aikanaan tasoittelin kaverin vinkin yllyttämänä kynsieni pinnassa olevia pystyjuovia pufferilla. Tässä sitten tulos, kun rajakohta alkoi tulla vastaan. Ikinä en enää mene hiomaan kynsieni pintaa, en ikinä.

Tällä kertaa esittelyssä China Glazen ihanasta OMG-hologrammikokoelmasta tummahko pinkki, BFF. Varsinainen talviväri, joka ei kuulu suurimpiin suosikkeihini. Mutta siitä viis, hologrammikimallus on näissä aivan omaa luokkaansa. Ikävä kyllä nämä hololakat muuttuvat kuivuessaan lähes mattapintaisiksi, joten päällyslakka on ehdoton edellytys huikealle sävyjen ilotulitukselle. Minä käytän Poshén pikakuivattavaa päällyslakkaa.

Vasemmalla ulkona luonnonvalossa otettu kuva, harmi vain ettei aurinko suostunut paistamaan. Hologrammiefekti piti kaivaa esiin keinovalossa (oikeanpuoleinen kuva). Sormien väri on aika outo, kun yritin pitää lakkavärin mahdollisimman lähellä oikeaa.

My dear reader, it has been a very long time since my last posting. The "sweet" winter of Finland has shown its true face, and we haven't had any weather for photographing outside. Also my hands look awful after the long cold period, they are bone dry despite all the creams and oils I have used.

Since the Christmas I have been slowly growing my nails back again. I had to cut them really short, because they were breaking from the sides all the time. I also realized why: quite some time ago I buffed the high vertical ridges from the nail surfaces, thanks to a "good tip" from a friend. When my nails grew enough for the stronger part to reach the sides, they just shattered. I am never again going to use buffer on my nails, never ever again!

This time I want to introduce BFF from China Glaze OMG-collection. The colour is a dark purplish pink, a true winter colour, which is not my greatest favourite. It's quite nice, though, because of the amazing holographic effect. I haven't seen any other holo like these, it's just blazing. Only setback with these holos is, that they dry quite matte and need a top coat to bring the full fire out. I use Poshé.

On the left I have a photo taken outside in natural light. Sadly the sun stayed behind thin layer of clouds, so I had to bring the holo effect visible with artificial light (photo on the right). The colour of my fingers looks a bit funny, because I tried to keep the polish colour as close to truth as possible.

Joulukynnet - Christmas Party Nails

Jouluhössötyksen vuoksi vähän jälkijunassa joulujuhlakynnet, ensimmäinen käsivaralla tehty koristeluni. Ei kovin onnistunut, mutta onneksi ei hämyisessä juhlatilassa näkynyt liian tarkkaan.

Pohjana Saksasta, Nail Design EuroDiscount -liikkeestä tilattua voimakkaanpunaista kaksi kerrosta, koristeraitana ihana China Glaze "Tinsel" hopeaglitteri ja sille reunaraidat Color Clubin kimallemustalla. Musta oli turhan paksua levittyäkseen kauniisti tottumattomissa käsissä. Täytynee hieman ohentaa sitä seuraavaan kertaan. Alla ja päällä Poshé.

Näistä tulee mulle kyllä yks tietty karkki mieleen... :)

All the Christmas fuzzing took so much of my time that I'm a bit late with these Christmas Party nails. This is my first experiment on freehand nail art. Not very tidy or nice, I have to say, but luckily in the dim lights of the ballroom my mistakes didn't show.

On the whole nail I have two coats of strong red polish, bought from Germany (Nail Design EuroDiscount). Then I made stripes with lovely China Glaze glitter "Tinsel" and draw black lines with Color Club black holographic striper polish. I think the black was too thick to handle with my experience, maybe I have to drop some restorer before next use. And of course, I have Poshé base- and topcoat.

I can't help getting a thought of a Christmas candy cane when I see these... ,-)

Color Club "Wild At Heart"

Ihana holovioletti! Ei aivan samaa luokkaa kuin Chinan OMG-sarja, mutta kerrassaan upea tämäkin. Näyttää hyvältä myös huonommassa valaistuksessa.

Violetti on erittäin intensiivinen, mutta tässä aavistuksen liian punainen. Kuva on otettu keinovalossa ennen joulusiivouksia, joten kynnetkin ovat vielä pitkät.

Lakkaa kolme kerrosta, alla ja päällä Poshé. Color Clubin laatu on erinomainen, tämä lakkaus kesti todella pitkään.

Spectacular holographic violet! Not quite as shiny as those of China Glaze OMG series, but this is really lovely. It looks very good even in poor light conditions.

The violet colour is really intensive, although in my picture just a bit too red. Of course the picture is taken in artificial light - we don't have sunny days in December here in Finland. This was taken before Christmas and intensive cleaning session, so I have nice, long nails here.

I have three coats of "Wild At Heart" with Poshé base- and topcoat. This manicure lasted really long, so I can give my points to Color Club quality.

Zoya "Areetha"

Tässä tämä nyt jo vanha (syyskuussa otettu) kynsikuva Zoya "Areetha" -lakasta, jonka bloggaajaystäväni Amabilelle lupasin. Ihana sävy! Intensiivinen, hehkuva ja vakuuttava. Minun näytölläni tämä on aavistuksen verran liian sininen, sävy on selvästi violetti.

Ensimmäinen testaamani Zoya-lakka. Hinta on pullon kokoon nähden aika kova, mutta kyllä tuote on laadukas. Levittäminen ei aiheuta murheita ja kestävyyskin on kohtuullisen hyvä. Tosin siveltimen jäljet jäävät herkästi näkyviin. Saattaa johtua myös voimakkaasti hohtavasta sävystä. Nähdään sitten, kun tulen testanneeksi muita Zoya-ostoksiani.

Here we have a bit old (taken in September, if my memory serves me right) of Zoya "Areetha". I promised to my blogger friend Amabile to show this to you. What a delicious shade! Intensive, glowing, impressive. On my screen the photo looks a bit too blue-ish, Areetha is definitely violet.

This is the very first Zoya polish I have tested. The price, considering the size of polish bottle, feels a bit high, but the polish seems to be worth it. This was easy to apply, no worries there, and durability is quite good. The only bother was, that brush marks tend to show. Maybe it is because of the highly glowing shade. We'll see, when I test my other Zoya polishes.

Tuhlaamassa, osa 2 - Spending Money, part 2

Nämä kuvat ovat jo vanhoja, aika on vain hävinnyt johonkin... Hankintoja on suoritettu jopa näiden jälkeenkin, mutta kuvaussäät ovat olleet mitä nyt yleensäkin täällä tähän aikaan vuodesta. :(

Tässä ensimmäiset Zoya-lakkani! Ylinnä valkoinen pullo on tasoittava aluslakka, siitä oikealle "Areetha", "Annie", "Kalmia" ja "Tori". Ostopaikkana tällä kertaa eBay-kauppa Sparkling Nails, jossa on aivan uskomattomat valikoimat lakkoja. Hinnat eivät ole halvimpia, eivätkä postimaksutkaan, mutta kun eräiden lakkamerkkien saatavuus Suomeen on rajoitettua, niin täältä vielä toistaiseksi saa - myös uutuuksia.

These photos are quite old already, but the time seems to be slipping through my hands in lightning speed... I've even made some purchases after these, but as we have the darkest time of the year here in Finland, there just isn't enough natural light to take good pictures. :(

Let me introduce You my first Zoyas! The white bottle is rigde filling base coat and the others clockwise are "Areetha", "Annie", "Kalmia" and "Tori".

This time I bought my treasures from eBay store Sparkling Nails by Jewels, which has an incredible collection of colors (even the most recent ones). They are perhaps not the cheapest ones in the market, but the store really has a very good collection, prompt shipping and excellent customer service.

Nubar "Indigo Illusion"

Tämä näytti pullon kuvassa todella hyvältä, mutta pullon luonnossa nähtyäni aloin saada pahoja epäilyksiä: en ehkä pitäisi tästä sävystä. Vaan miten kävikään? Kolme kerrosta kynsillä ja olin hämmästynyt. "Indigo Illusion" on aika osuva nimi tälle. Auringossa (vasemmalla) se sädehtii siniharmaan, sinisen, violetin ja pinkin sävyissä. Varjossa yllättäen hallitsevaksi sävyksi nousee vihreä!

Lakka on Nubarille tyypillisesti helppo levittää ja peittää kolmella kerroksella todella hyvin. Kuvissa lakka on ollut käytössä jo pari päivää, siksi kärjissä näkyy kulumia. Peukalo on piilossa, koska se ei ollut vielä esittelykelpoinen. Tässä vaiheessa kynsi oli kasvanut jo sen verran, että olin saanut poistaa tekokynnen ja lakattua tyngän. Kynnen kärki oli vielä ohut kuin riisipaperi ja vahvasti korjaus- ja aluslakalla kerrostettu.

This polish seemed very nice in the picture of the bottle, but when I saw the bottle in my hand, I wasn't so sure any more. I felt like I would never use the shade. But what happened? When I applied three coats on my nails (plus base- and topcoat), I was astonished. "Indigo Illusion" really is a accurate name for this polish. In the sun (photo on the left) it shifts in blueish gray, dark blue, violet and pink. But when in shade, the dominant colour is green! Wow!

This is typical Nubar consistency, applies well and is opaque in three coats. When I took these pictures, the mani was couple of days old, so there is some visible wear on the tips. And the thumb is hidden, because it was not very presentable yet. :) The thumbnail had grown enough, so there was no artificial nail any more, but it was just a stump and very thin around the tip, just like rice paper. I had to put reparing polish and several coats of base to keep it together.

Onnettomuuksia - Nail Disasters

Onpa ollut pitkä tauko päivityksissä; anteeksi, rakas lukijani. Yksi syyllisistä näkyy tässä: pahin kynsikatastrofeistani. Moni muukin kynsi on taittunut, murtunut, liuskottunut - mutta tämä oli pahinta. Otteeni lipesi kosteasta tai rasvaisesta ovenkahvasta ja tietysti peukalon kynsi taittui ylöspäin ja repesi. Kuva kertoo kaiken - myös sen, että jouduin työpäivän ajan pitämään sormessa laastaria. Koko peukalo oli pari päivää tosi kipeä. Kuva on otettu lakan poiston sekä leikkureilla ja viilalla annetun ensiavun jälkeen.

It has been a very long break in my blogging; I apologize to You, my dear reader. One of the reasons is shown in this picture: the worst of my late nail catastrophies. Quite a few other nails have also been bent, cracked, chipped, split - but this was the ultimate disaster. My grip slipped from a door handle, which was either wet or greasy, and of course the thumbnail was bent upwards and was torn. The picture tells it all - including the sad fact, that I had to use a band aid on my thumb for the rest of my day at work. The whole thumb was sore for a couple of days. The picture was taken at home after removing the polish and the first aid given with nail clippers and file.

Murtuma oli niin paha, että jouduin ensimmäistä kertaa eläissäni turvautumaan tekokynteen. Kauheaa. :( En suostu levittämään mitään hetipiti-liimaa kynnelleni, joten vaihtoehdoksi marketin kosmetiikkaosastolta jäi kuvassa näkyvä merkki. Paketissa sanottiin, että kynnet irtoavat 10 minuutissa lämpimällä vedellä liottamalla. No joo, taisi siinä ainakin parikymmentä minuuttia mennä, mutta irti se viikon käytön jälkeen lähti. Eikä vaurioittanut omaa kynttä.

The breakage was so bad and sore, that for the first time in my life I had to use an artificial nail. Awful, terrible. :( But I don't go and apply any "superglue" on my nails, so the only alternative in my local shopping centre was the product in the photo. On the box it said, that nails will come off after soaking them in warm water for 10 minutes. Well, I think it took at least 20 minutes, but the nail finally came off without damaging my nail surface. And I used the false nail on my thumb for a whole week.

China Glaze TMI

Lomat ovat tältä erää ohi ja kynnet taas työkunnossa. :)

Tähän mennessä kokeilemani China Glazen hologrammilakat ovat olleet aivan fantastisia. Tämä ei ihan niinkään, vaikka auringossa esille tuleekin kullan ja sinisen hehkua. Väri on tumma pinkki tai vaalea fuksia, miten vain. Sävy on mukavasti lämpimään kallellaan, joten kädet eivät näytä viluisilta. Tämän lakan alle pitäisi ehdottomasti laittaa tasoittava aluslakka, koska hologrammi on armoton kynsien pinnan epätasaisuuksille.

Kaiken kaikkiaan mukava väri, mutta ei mitenkään huomiota herättävä. Ei tämä pullo jää nurkkaa lojumaan, vaikka hologrammilakkojen kulutuksenkesto ei olekaan niitä parhaita.

My holidays are over for now, and so I have my nails in working order again. :)

Those few China Glaze holographic polishes (from OMG-collection) which I have tried so far, have been totally amazing. This is not quite so glamorous, even though the sun brings out some golden and blue blazes. The colour is dark pink or light fuchsia, I can't tell which one. This shade has a nice warm touch, so my hands don't look like they are just going to freeze in the slightly chilly early autumn weather. Also this polish would look much better with ridge filling base coat, because holographic polishes are ruthless to any unevenness on the nails - as You can see.

Anyway, I like this colour although it's not anything flashy. :) This bottle is not going to be left lying around, while these holos are not the best polishes for wear and tear - and washing dishes.

OPI "She's Golden"

Pitkä tauko sitten viime kirjoittelun; olen lomalla ja annan kynsienkin vähän lomailla.

Haluan esitellä lakan, josta tuli kertaheitolla suuri suosikkini: OPI "She's Golden". Valkoinen, lähes kermanvärinen lakka kultashimmerillä. Aivan ihastuttava pehmeä sävy! Ja mikä kesto! Tässä kuvassa on aluslakka, 3 x värilakka ja päällä Poshé. Myöhemmin lisäsin vielä yhden kerroksen värilakkaa ja päälle taas Poshén. Voitteko kuvitella: lakkaus kesti siedettävän näköisenä lähes kaksi viikkoa, vaikka olin joka päivä puutarhassa kitkemässä ja harventamassa! Ja tietysti ilman hanskoja. :) Sen voin sanoa, että kaiken tuon lakan poistaminen oli melkoinen homma. Mikroglitteri ei niin vaan irtoakaan.

Näissä OPI:n lakoissa minua ensin hirvitti siveltimen suuri koko, mutta sillä saa todella kaunista jälkeä aikaan. Ja laatu on kyllä hintansa arvoinen, sanon siihen vähäiseen kokemukseen perustuen, joka minulla näistä OPI-lakoista on.

It has been a while since I made my latest blog entry; I am on vacation and letting my nails get some rest, too.

But now I want to tell You about this polish, which became my favorite immediately: OPI "She's Golden". White, almost cream-coloured polish with golden shimmer. Very lovely, soft shade! And the quality! In this photo I have base coat, 3 x OPI and Poshé top coat. Later I added one more coat of OPI and again Poshé. Can You believe: this manicure lasted reasonably nice for almost two weeks, although I was every day picking weeds in my kitchen garden with my hands deep in the soil! And of course without gloves. :) Well, I have to say, that finally taking off this manicure was quite a job. Golden microglitter was a tough one.

In these OPI polishes I thought the brush looked very big, but it makes a very nice job. And the quality is well worth the price, although I have only a few experiences with OPI so far.

Nubar "Love Rainbow"

Saanko esitellä: lyhennetyt kynnet ja vino keskisormen kynsi (se, joka repeytyi). Yhyy. Onneksi kynnet ovat uusiutuva luonnonvara. Onneksi ei ole juhlia tiedossa. Jos olisi, hakisin varmaan tarrakiinnitteiset tekokynnet tähän hätään.

Ensimmäinen Nubar-kokeiluni olikin aika hauska, vaikka pieneltä pettymykseltä ei voinutkaan välttyä. Tämä "Love Rainbow" -sävy on jännittävä kaksoisväri, joka näyttää jossain kulmassa harmaansiniseltä ja toisessa kulmassa selvästi hennon vihertävältä, kuin merivesi matalassa rannassa. Hups. Hilpeä kokemus, tykkään.

Itse lakka levittyy hyvin ja kuivuu nopeasti, mutta menee herkästi kuplille kerrostettaessa. Kuvissa on kolme kerrosta, eikä väri siltikään ole täysin peittävä. Päällyslakkana Nubarin oma Diamont Seal and Shine, joka kyllä kuivatti ja antoi suojaavan kerroksen, mutta aiheutti värilakan hienoisen kutistumisen. Kutistuneesta kärjestä lakka alkoi kulua luvattoman nopeasti. Kerrassaan ärsyttävää, kun luulin välttäväni moisen ongelman sarjan omalla päällyslakalla. Diamont ei myöskään hävittänyt pienoisia kuplia. Ehkä seuraavalla kerralla kokeilen Poshéa.

May I present: my shortened nails and lopsided middle finger nail (the one which I tore in the car door). Boo-hoo. :( Well, luckily the nails are renewable resource, it only takes some time to get them back in shape again. And luckily I don't have any important parties (like weddings etc) this summer. If I had, I probably would buy a set of fake nails with adhesive stickers to save the situation.

This was my first Nubar experience, and it was lot of fun - well, with a small disappointment. This colour, "Love Rainbow", is exciting duochrome shade: in some angle (the sunny picture) it looks slightly grayish baby blue, but in other angle (the shady picture) it has a tender light greenish shade. Just like the ocean water near the beach. Wow! This is so lovely, I like it a lot!

The polish itself is easy to apply neatly and it dries very quickly. But sadly it tends to bubble when I put several coats, so remember to let the coats dry properly before applying next. In the photos I have three coats and it still isn't quite opaque. It is nicely sheer, not too colourless.

When I bought these Nubar polishes, I also bought their "own" top coat "Diamont Seal and Shine", because I thought I could avoid shrinking and other problems that way. Well... Diamont dried the polish super fast, but the colour polish did shrink after all. Not much, but still... :( Perhaps next time I will use Poshé and see how it goes. Poshé usually evens the irritating small bubbles, too.

Miners "Satsuma"

Kokeiluostos Sokokselta yllätti positiivisesti niin hinnallaan kuin laadullaankin. Nämä englantilaiset Minersin pikkulakat eivät paljon maksa, mutta yllättävän hyvin kestävät käyttöä. Eivätkä muuten kutistu Poshén päällyslakan kanssa! Lakka levittyy hyvin ja on kohtuullisen peittävä (kuvassa kaksi kerrosta).

Tässä väri nimeltä "Satsuma", joka luonnossa on aavistuksen oranssimpi kuin kuvassa. Pilvisellä säällä ei kunnon kuvaa saa, ei millään. Sävy on todellinen kesäväri, raikas ja lämmin persikkakoralli. Lakka on lähes creme, kullanhohtoinen shimmeri on niin hentoa, ettei sitä juuri erota muuten kuin herkkänä hohteena.

Tämä kuva onkin vähään aikaan viimeinen pidemmillä kynsillä. Pari päivää kuvan ottamisen jälkeen otteeni märästä auton ovenkahvasta lipesi ja keskisormen kynsi murtui ikävästi. Liityn siis kynnenkasvattajien kerhoon. :)

I bought this Miners polish (made in Britain) from our local supermarket, and I was positively surprised. The small bottle is very cheap, but the quality is good. It applies easily and evenly, is quite opaque (in the photo I have two coats) and it really sustains wear and tear. And it doesn't shrink after applying Poshé quick dry!

The colour I'm wearing is "Satsuma", which is more orange than the picture shows. I just couldn't get the colour right in rainy weather, no matter what I tried. I love this shade, it is a true summer colour: fresh, bright and warm peachy coral. It is almost creme, but has a touch of golden shimmer so tiny it hardly shows. Rather it just glows a little.

Couple of days after taking this photo my hand slipped on the wet car door handle and the nail on my middle finger broke badly. So I join the other nail polish bloggers growing their nails again. :)

Tuhlaamassa, osa 1 - Spending money, part 1

On tullut haaskattua rahaa kynsilakkoihin viime aikoina... täytyyhän minun hankkia eri merkkisiä lakkoja, jos meinaan suosikkini löytää! (Eikö ollutkin hyvä selitys?)

Nämä ihanuudet tulivat Suomesta, vaikka yritys onkin virolainen: Looks Design. Ovat perustaneet Suomeen oman yhtiön, eli ostaminen ei voisi olla helpompaa. Tuotteet maksetaan suomalaiselle pankkitilille ja tavara lähtetään Suomesta. Helppoa ja todella nopeaa!

Nubareja minulla ei ennestään ole, joten heti oli pakko kokeilla. Sävyt vasemmalta: Je t'aime, Indigo Illusion ja Love Rainbow. Pullossa nähtynä tuli sellainen olo, että keskimmäinen taisi olla huti, mutta saapa nähdä.

Ja lisää on tulossa, kunhan saan säällisen kuvan otettua - tosin muita merkkejä!

I've been spending some money to nail polishes lately... but really: I just have to get different polish brands, if I want to find the perfect one! (Wasn't that a brilliant excuse? LOL)

These beauties came from Finland, although the company is Estonian: Looks Design. They have now a branch here, and it is just so easy to do shopping there. I can pay to a finnish account and the products ship from Finland. Very nice indeed! And very fast!

I have never tested Nubar polishes before, so this is going to be interesting. The shades from left to right are: Je t'aime, Indigo Illusion and Love Rainbow. When seen in these "live" I got the feeling that the middle one may be a mistake, but time will tell.

And there is more newbies to come, when I can take a decent picture. But those are going to be other brands.

Essie "Pearly White"

Minulla on sitten huono tuuri tänä kesänä näiden valkoisten kanssa. :( Viime viikolla oli käytössä Rimmelin 60 seconds valkoinen, joka oli ihan kauhea. En viitsinyt edes kuvata sitä, kun se(kin) kutistui päällyslakan kanssa. Ilman se ei suostunut kuivumaan ollenkaan.

Tässä on ihana valkoinen sävy, Essien "Pearly White", jonka kanssa taisin hätäillä vähän liikaa. Lakkaa on kolme kerrosta ja Poshé päällä. Ja lakka on kuplilla. Edes päällyslakka ei saanut niitä hävitetyksi, varjossa otetussa kuvassa pienet kuplat näkyvät paremmin (tummina pisteinä). Jos edellinen Essie-kokeiluni onnistui erinomaisesti ja tulos oli kaunis ja raidaton, niin tämä on jotain muuta. Seuraavalla kerralla täytyy kuivatella välikerroksia pidempään, ehkä se auttaa kuplimiseen. Mutta tuohon lakan raidoittumiseen ei taida auttaa mikään. Tämä vaan on tällaista. Koostumus on ohut ja juokseva, mutta peittää kohtuullisen hyvin. En voi sanoa olevani täysin tyytymätön tähän lakkaan.

This summer I seem to have only bad luck with my white polishes. :( Last week I was wearing Rimmel 60 seconds white, which was quite horrible. I didn't even take photos of it, because it (as well as other quick dry polishes) shrank after putting top coat. And without top coat it just didn't dry properly.

But here I have a wonderful shade on white, Essie "Pearly White". I just hurried too much when putting it on, I have three coats and Poshé quick dry on top. And of course the polish started to make tiny bubbles. Even Poshé couldn't fade them, You can see the bubbles especially in the photo taken in the shade. They are the tiny dark spots on my nails. If my previous experiment with Essie polish was a total success and a very beautiful and even result, this was something else. Next time I have to let the colour polish dry properly before putting the next coat on, perhaps that will prevent bubbling. The other visible problem with this polish is streaks, but nothing can help that. It is just the way these shimmer/frost polishes are. The consistency of this polish is very thin and runny, but still it covers nicely. I'm not totally disappointed.

Lumene "Lagoon"

Kun olin tehokkaasti tärvännyt edellisen lakkaukseni kesäkukkien istutuksessa ja siivouksessa (minähän EN osaa tehdä mitään kumihanskat käsissä), teki mieli vaihtaa väriä. Voimakas turkoosinsininen, keinovalossa vieläkin vihertävämpi kuin tässä pilvisessä säässä otetussa kuvassa. Lakka on Lumene Quick&Chic numero 13, "Sininen laguuni". Söpö väri, vaikkakin aika räväkkä. Poimittu marketin poistolaatikosta keväällä ihan pilkkahintaan.

Pelkäsin, että sininen väri imeytyy kynsiini, joten laitoin pohjalle 2x Poshé aluslakan ja kaksi värilakkakerrosta. Päälle Poshén pikakuivattaja, joka ihmeesti tasasi muutaman kolhun, jotka olin jo ehtinyt saada kiireessä kosteisiin kynsiin. Ikävä kyllä tässä kävi taas samoin kuin viimeksi Lumenen pikalakan kanssa: päällyslakka kutistaa värilakan. Ärh. Valkoiset kärjet näkyvät, eivätkä kynsinauhojen reunatkaan ole ihan tasaväriset.

Mutta eipä hätää, tämä on kiva väri ja tulen käyttämään sitä toistekin. Viikonlopun aikana on luvassa lisää puutarhahommia, joten lakkaus menee uusiksi joka tapauksessa. Mitäköhän seuraavaksi keksisi... :)

After destroying (again!) my previous polish when planting some flowers and cleaning the house (I just CAN'T do anything with rubber gloves on my hands), I wanted to change colour to something flashy. So I chose a dark turquoise, which looks even more teal-ish in artificial light than in this photo taken on a cloudy day. This is Lumene Quick&Chic number 13, "Lagoon". Cute colour, quite bold - and I picked this up from a discount basket in a local "wal-mart" this spring!

I feared that the blue colour could stain my nails, so I used 2x Poshé base coat and 2x "Lagoon". Finally Poshé quick dry top coat, which did a small wonder fixing couple of dents. I always seem to be in a hurry when polishing my nails, and this time was typical: I always have to do something before the polish is dry enough. The sad point is, that again, like last time with Lumene Quick&Chic, the top coat made the colour polish shrink. Growl. The tip points are white and I can see some thinning close to my cuticles as well.

Never mind, I like this colour and during this weekend I have more gardening to do, so I'll destroy this polish very soon in the sandy ground. What would I wear next... :)

Maybelline Colorama "Coral Rose"

Esitelläänpä vaihteeksi yksi "vanhoista ystävistä", jo aiemmin käytössä ollut "markettilakka" eli Maybellinen Colorama-sarjan numero 56, "Coral Rose". Ihanan persikkainen sävy, joka näyttää asialliselta ja hyvältä niin kesällä kuin talvella. Kesällä, ruskettuneissa käsissä, tämä on aivan herkullinen.

Laitoin kolme kerrosta Poshén aluslakan päälle ja kuivattajaksi Poshén pikakuivattavan päällyslakan. En pitänyt värikerrosten välillä taukoa kuin tunnin verran, kun kuvittelin Poshén kuivattavan tämän tyylikkäästi. Tunti-puolitoista Poshén laittamisen jälkeen jatkoin neuletyötäni ja kauhukseni huomasin, että hieman kovempi painaminen jätti edelleen jäljen lakkakerrokseen. Ohhoh. Tämä kestää ikuisuuden kuivattaa - en ymmärrä, miten ihmeessä olen jaksanut näiden lakkojen kanssa taistella vuosikymmeniä! Tai sitten vain kokeilut China Glazen, OPI:n ja Essien lakkojen kanssa ovat tehneet minusta vaativan. :)

This time I show You one of my "old friends": Colorama from Maybelline, which I could call a "wal-mart polish". This is number 56, "Coral Rose", a warm peachy shade which looks very chic and nice both in winter and summer. Especially now, when I have a slight tan on my hands, it is quite juicy.

I put three coats over Poshé base coat and finally Poshé Fast Dry Topcoat. I was - as usual - in a hurry, so I had only about one hour drying break between the coats. I just assumed, that Poshé will do the drying job perfectly in 5 minutes, as usual. After about one hour I continued with my knitting, and was horrified to discover that putting some pressure on the polish still left marks. Oh my... This polish takes forever to dry and I just can't understand how I have managed with it for many years. It has been some kind of battle, I have to admit it. Or perhaps my new experiences with China Glaze, OPI and Essie have made me more demanding. :)

Essie "Blueberry Crumb"

Jos edellinen Essie-kokeiluni (kulta) näytti hassulta käsissäni, niin tämä on jotain ihan muuta! Todella ihastuttava vaaleansininen lakka, lähes creme eli melko vähän helmiäistä. Lempivärejäni, etenkin kesäaikaan, ovat hopea ja valkoinen, joiden seuraan tästä tulee erinomainen lisä. Suosittelen! Tosin muutamassa kaupassa olen nähnyt tämän sävyn yhteydessä huolestuttavan sanan "discontinued" eli "poistuu valikoimasta". Ainakin Head2Toe Beauty myy edelleen tätä ihan normaalilla hinnalla.

Ainoa asia, joka Essien lakoissa on tähän mennessä häirinnyt, on haju. Se on melkoisen outo, ei perinteinen kynsilakan haju vaan aika ällö. Mutta nämähän ovat niitä "myrkyttömiä" lakkoja, eli eivät sisällä formaldehydiä, tolueenia eikä DBP:tä (dibutyyliftalaatti eli jonkun sortin pehmennin).

Kuvassa on kolme kerrosta, kaksikin olisi riittänyt peittävään tulokseen. Huomaatteko, miten tasaisilta kynteni näyttävät? En ole hionut pintaa, vaan kokeilin Adoréen tasoittavaa aluslakkaa. Sen koostumus tuntui aika ohuelta, mutta hyvin näyttää häivyttävän pahatkin epätasaisuudet, myös pystyraidat. Olen hämmästynyt!

If my previous experience with Essie polish (golden "Shift Power") was looking somewhat funny on my hands, this is something else! Really charming pale blue colour, almost creme polish, with just a hint of shimmer. My favourite colours, especially during summer, are silver and white, and this will surely be added to those favourites. I dare to recommend this - although in some places I have seen the troubling word "discontinued" with this colour. Anyway, Head2Toe Beauty still has this on normal price.

There is one thing with Essie polishes, which I find a wee bit irritating: the smell. It's quite weird, nothing like "normal" polish smell. I dare to call it yacky. Perhaps it's something to do with the formula, which is formaldehyde, toluene and DBP free.

In the photo I am wearing three coats, although two could have been enough. But did you notice, how smooth my nail surfaces look? No, I haven't been using buffer vigorously, I just used Adorée ridge filling base coat! It seemed very thin, but works fine, doesn't it. It covers quite well even the sharp vertical ridges I have in some nails. I am surprised!

Adorée "Salmon Stream"

Ihana, ihana Adoréen monivärilakka, Salmon Stream (vapaa käännös: Lohipuro). Suoraan katsottuna väri on herkkä pinkkihelmiäinen, mutta kynsiä käännellessä sävy muuttuu lämpimän oranssinpunaiseksi. Vaihdokset näkyvät kuvassa. Tämä ei kuitenkaan ole hologrammilakka.

Koostumus on ohutta ja läpikuultavaa, vieläkin kynsien kärjet erottuvat jonkin verran. Kuvassa kolme lakkakerrosta ja Poshé päällyslakka, ollut ankarassa käytössä kolme päivää. Kynsien kärjet ovat hiukan kuluneet, muuten lakka on täysin kunnossa! Kyllä kannatti nähdä vaiva ja tilata näitä ihanuuksia Ruotsista, Nail Pro Storesta. Muualta Euroopan alueelta en Adoréeta löytänyt, eikä amerikkalainen nettikauppa toimita Suomeen. Oikeastaan ainoa hankaluus oli se, että ruotsalaisella nettikaupalla ei ole varsinaista online-kauppaa, vaan maksu pitää suorittaa tilisiirtona. Siitä tulee omat kulunsa, koska kyseessä on ulkomaan maksu eri valuutassa.

Onneksi tilasin kerralla hiukan useamman (joita jatkossa tulen esittelemään), pääsin pulloa kohti kohtuullisiin kustannuksiin.

Wonderful, lovely, sweet multicolor polish from Adorée, "Salmon Stream". When you look at the nails straight, the color is soft, warm pink shimmer. From an angle it turns to warm orange-ish red. You can see some of these shifts in the photo. But this is not a holographic polish.

The polish itself is very thin and sheer. You can still see my nail tips, and I have three coats plus Poshé top coat here. Adorée seems to be very good polish: this manicure has been in hard use for three days in the office and at home, but I can see only some wearing on the tips. No chipping, no cracking. Wow. It was really worth the trouble to order a few bottles at once from Nail Pro Store in Sweden, although it was a bit tricky because I had to pay in Swedish crowns (there's no normal online shop). I couldn't find Adorée from any other e-tailer in Europe and sadly Esther's Nail Center doesn't ship to Scandinavia.

But now I have some of these lovely polishes (actually four of them), so there's more to be shown here.

China Glaze L8R G8R

Vappuviikko ja vappukynnet. ,-)

Olen korviani myöten ihastunut näihin China Glazen hologrammilakkoihin! Lähes kaikki muut hololakat, joista olen kuvia nähnyt, muistuttavat enemmän glitterlakkoja. Näissä OMG!-kokoelman lakoissa hile on niin pikkuruista, että holoefekti on uskomaton. Kynnen pinta ei tunnu karhealta, vaikkei päällyslakkaa olisikaan.

Varjossa tämä L8R G8R -lakka näyttää... no, lähes neonkirkkaalta limenvihreältä. Kuva valehtelee oikein reilusti. Mutta auringossa tai loisteputken valossa se muuttuu huikean hehkuvaksi, villiksi, kutkuttavaksi - jopa suorastaan räikeäksi. Aivan ihana! Auringossa otettu kuva ei tee oikeutta, vihreä väri holon alla on huomattavasti voimakkaampi. Kuvittelin, että limenvihreä näyttäisi käsissäni yhtä murheelliselta kuin edellisen postauksen kultalakka. Mutta ei: tämähän istuu käsieni väriin hauskasti. Tosin töissä väri aiheutti vähän outoja katseita... ,-)

Miinuspuolia? Tätä lakkaa täytyy levittää määrätietoisesti, se kasautuu helposti ja jää epätasaiseksi. Vasta kolmannella kerroksella tulos alkaa olla siedettävä. Kuvien lakkauksessa on Poshé aluslakka, 3xL8R G8R ja Poshé pikakuivattaja. Toinen miinus on se, että tämä ihanuus ei anna kyllä hiukkaakaan anteeksi kynnen pinnan epätasaisuuksille. Näkyy kuvissakin. Nyyh. Minun täytyy hankkia tasoittava aluslakka!

We have May Day next weekend, so I have May Day nails. ,-)

I am head over heels in love with these China Glaze holographic polishes! Almost every other holographics, which I have seen on other blogs, look more like glitters. But in these OMG!-collection polishes the glittery stuff is so tiny that the hologram effect is unbeliavable. I also noticed that the polish doesn't feel grainy without top coat.

In the shadow this L8R G8R -polish looks... well, almost neon-ish lime green. My picture is not accurate, not by far. But when the sun or artificial light catches the nails, the color turns glowing, intense, wild, vivid - scandalous even. So lovely! In the sun the green color beyond the flashing hologram effect is much brighter than in my photo. I thought that lime green colour would look funny on me, perhaps even as sad as the golden polish in my previous post. But no way! This looks quite nice on my hands and I like it. Well, in the office I received some curious looks... ,-)

Any complaints then? Well, this polish needs steady hand and quick movements when applying. It likes to get streaky and very uneven, so it needs at least three coats to get pretty. In the photos I have Poshé Base Coat, 3 x L8R G8R and Poshé Fast Dry Top Coat. Second setback with this genie in the bottle is, that it shows each and every fault in the nails. You can see it in the photos: my nails have ridges and bumps. Sob, sniff. I must get a ridge filling base coat!

Scorpio On Gold

Essien "Shift Power", kullanvärinen helmiäislakka. Sävy on sekä auringossa että varjossa suunnilleen samanlainen, ehkä vähän turhan keltainen. Väri näyttää aika hassulta tähän aikaan vuodesta valjun värisissä käsissäni, tämä on ehdottomasti kesälakka.

Tässä on kaksi kerrosta, olisi välttämättä tarvittu kolme. Lakka on ohutta ja jää helposti raidalliseksi. Ohut lakkakerros myös kului paperien pyörityksessä nopeasti kärjistään, joten tämä lakkaus jäi vai kolmen päivän mittaiseksi. Toivottavasti muissa ostamissani Essien lakoissa on vähän tuhdimpi koostumus.

Nimettömään laitoin Konadilla (laatta M28) pikku skorpionin hiippailemaan.

This is Essie "Shift Power", golden shimmer polish. The shade is quite similar in the direct sun and in the shadow, but to my liking perhaps a bit too yellow. This color looks a bit stupid this time of the year in my pale hands. Definitely a summer polish.

I have two coats in the pictures, but should have been at least three. Colour is still sheer and there are visible streaks, because the polish is very thin and a bit runny. Also this manicure lasted only for three days, because I had a lot of paperwork to do and the tips just weared out. I hope the other Essie polishes I bought have better consistency.

In the ring finger I have a nice little Konad (plate M28) scorpio crawling around. :)

Kesäostoksia - Shopping for summer

Toinen tilaukseni Head2Toe Beautysta kotiutui eilen. Tällä kertaa panostin kesäisiin väreihin ja muutamaan uuteen merkkiin. Pitäähän niitä merkkejä testailla, että löytää sen parhaan, jota olen etsimässä. :)

Vasemmalta: Misa kullanhohtoinen punainen, taustalla OPI kullanhohtoinen valkoinen, Essien valkoinen, vaaleansininen ja kulta sekä China Glazen turkoosi ja ihanasti kimaltava vihertävä hololakka. Mistähän aloittaisi testauksen...

My second order from Head2Toe Beauty arrived yesterday. This time I chose mostly summer colours and a couple of new polish brands. Surely I have to test several brands, before I can find the perfect polish I'm searching for. :)

Lumene "Silvery Moon"

Tällä kertaa käytössä on vanha Lumenen Quick & Chic lakka nro 58 "Hopeinen kuu". Pidän kovasti hopeasävyisistä ja valkoisista lakoista, mutta kauniiden ja kestävien löytäminen on ollut kiven alla. Tässä lakassa on keinovalossa (ja varjossa) kaunis vaaleanharmaa hopeasävy, mutta luonnonvalossa se muuttuu syvän grafiitinharmaaksi. Ei kiva.

Koostumus on paksuhko, yksikin kerros peittää aika hyvin. Kuvissa käytössä kaksi kerrosta. Lakka kuivuu itsekseen varsin nopeasti, mutta pinta jää karheaksi ja kaikki siveltimenjäljet näkyvät. Siispä fiksuna tyttönä laitoin pikakuivattajaa saatuani Konad-koristelut paikalleen. Tämäpä lakka otti ja kutistui yön aikana, alemmassa kuvassa kynsien kärjissä se näkyy hyvin. Ei todellakaan kiva. Älä siis koskaan käytä nopeasti kuivuvan lakan kanssa pikakuivattavaa päällyslakkaa.

Tämä lakkaus oli vain pikainen välivaihe, kun lähdettiin ystävättären kanssa shoppailemaan ja piti saada edellisen, jo epäsiistiksi tärvätyn lakkauksen tilalle jotain siedettävää. Ja kuten tavallista, kiirekin oli lakkaillessa - näkyy konadoinnin räpellyksinä. Onneksi nyt on lakkoja kokeiltavaksi, tänään oli rantautunut uusi erä postilaatikkoon! Siitä lisää piakkoin. :)

This time I am wearing older Lumene Quick & Chic polish number 58 "Silvery Moon". I like silver and white polishes very much, but finding beautiful shades and good quality has been quite a task. This polish has a very nice light silvery shimmer in artificial light (and shade), but in sunlight the colour seems to be dark graphite grey. Not nice.

The polish formula is quite thick, even one coat gives reasonable covering. In these pictures I have two coats. Lumene dries quite quickly, but the polish surface remains a bit rough, sand-like. And all brush streaks are visible. So, being a smart girl, I used Poshé quick dry top coat after making a few Konad stampings. Well, this polish decided to surprise me during the night: it shrank! You can see the result in the lower picture, my nail tips look horrible. Not nice, nope. Remember: never use quick dry top coat with quick drying nail polish.

Luckily this manicure was needed just for one day, because I went shopping with my friend. I had already somewhat destroyed the previous manicure, so I had to put something on. And, as usual, I had very little time to do this manicure, and it shows - especially in my Konad stamping. Not very precise. But some new polishes had arrived today, so I can soon put something new on my nails. :)

China Glaze "Poetic"

Tällä kertaa esittelyssä China Glaze "Poetic"-lakka Romantique-kokoelmasta. Väri on kaunis punertava kupari, kaunein kuparisävy jonka olen löytänyt. Miinusta tämä lakka saa koostumuksestaan, joka on paksumpi kuin China Glazet yleensä. Ohutta lakkakerrosta on vaikea tehdä ja siveltimen jäljet jäävät näkyviin. Yksi lakkakerros kuivuu itsekseen nopeasti, mutta toinen vaatikin jo Poshén pikakuivattajan. Siltikin onnistuin sössimään kärkiä jonkun verran.

Ylempi kuva on otettu suorassa auringonpaisteessa, alakuva varjossa. China Glaze -lakoille tyypillinen voimakas valaistuksesta riippuva sävyero tulee hyvin näkyviin.

Tämän lakan suureksi plussaksi on mainittava, että näiden kuvien ottamisen jälkeen olen pessyt kaksi koiraa (koirashampoolla ja vedellä), siivoillut märällä rätillä sitä sun tätä, pessyt perunat ja porkkanat juuresharjalla ja naputellut tietokoneen näppäimistöä. Ja kaikki veden kanssa lotraamiset tottakai ilman hanskoja! Lakka on edelleen samassa kunnossa kuin kuvissa! Olen hämmästynyt.

This time I'm introducing China Glaze "Poetic" from Romantique-collection. The colour is beautiful coppery shade with just a touch of pinkish red - the most beautiful copper shade I have seen yet. A big disappointment is the polish consistency, which is very thick compared to other China Glaze collections. It's very difficult to get a thin layer of polish and the brush marks are quite visible. The first layer of polish dried nicely, but after the second layer I had to use Poshé quick dry topcoat. Despite taking care while drying, I managed to mess up the tips a bit.

The upper picture is taken in direct sunlight, lower picture in shade. These pictures show nicely the strong variation of colour depending of light, which is typical to China Glaze polishes.

As a big and very positive surprise with this polish is, that after taking these pictures I have washed two dogs (with shampoo), wiped some doors and tables with a wet cloth, washed the potatoes and carrots for dinner with a very hard brush - and of course I have been typing. And all the washing without gloves, of course! And the polish looks still the same as in the pictures! I'm surprised.

OPI Bubble Bath

Ostoksistani on jo kulunut aikaa (siirsin tuon ostospostauksen toisesta blogistani), joten on aika esitellä ensimmäinen uusista kokemuksista.

En ole koskaan oikein tykännyt creme-lakoista, koska niissä näkyvät kynsieni epätasaisuudet liian hyvin. Hiomalla kynsien pinnan saisi tasaisemmaksi, mutta en halua ohentaa jo ennestäänkin ohuita kysiäni. Uskaltauduin kuitenkin kokeilemaan creme-lakkaa, kun ranskalaisen manikyyrin teko kiinnostaa.

OPI Bubble Bath on hyvin läpikuultava, aavistuksen persikkaan vivahtava vaaleanpunainen. Kuvassa on kolme lakkakerrosta, mutta kynsien kärjet näkyvät vieläkin vaaleina. Lakka levittyy kauniisti ja sivellin on vähintäänkin riittävän iso. ,-)

Mielestäni tämä on kaunis, lämpimän sävyinen lakka ranskalaisiin manikyyreihin ja miksei joskus kesälläkin hyvin ruskettuneita käsiä korostamaan.

My latest polish haul has been sitting here for quite a while (I moved the hauling post from my other blog), so now it's time to review the first of my new experiences.

I have never really liked creme polishes, because my nails have a lot of ridges which show through too much. Of course I could buff my nails, but I'm not too keen to do so. Too much buffing only makes my nails weaker. This time I decided to try one creme polish, because sometimes a neat french manicure would be nice.

OPI Bubble Bath is very sheer, very pale pink with just a touch of warm peach. Lovely! In the picture I have base coat, Bubble Bath x3 and top coat, and still my tips show through. The polish itself applies very smoothly and the brush is definitely big enough. ,-)

In my opinion, this is a beautiful, warm shade of polish for french manicures and perhaps even to make a nice contrast in the summer, when my hands are nicely tanned.

Hankintoja - Nail Polish Haul

Tilasin Head2Toe Beautysta kasan lakkoja, joita ei Suomesta saa. Paketti tuli todella vauhdikkaasti, tulivat yhtä vikkelästi kuin helmipaketit. Nämä oli pakattu todella hyvin tukevaan pahvilaatikkoon ja jokainen pullo oli vielä erikseen kuplamuovitettu. Paketin saamiseen liittyy pieni hauska tarina: olin flunssaisena ja kuumeisena petissä ja mieheni koirien kanssa aamulenkillä, kun ovikello soi. Vetäisin vanhan fleecepusakan pyjaman päälle ja menin avaamaan oven, luullen että sieltä tulevat muut perheemme jäsenet. Ovella olikin kultainen postinkantajarouvamme, joka hieman hämmentyneenä katseli epämääräistä asuani, punaista nenääni ja peikkokampaustani. Ystävällisesti hymyillen hän ojensi minulle paketin ja muut päivän postit sanoen, että hän päätti tuoda postit ovelle, kun eivät oikein mahtuneet laatikkoon. Voi hyvänen aika, että minä häpesin! Pitää varmaan tehdä rouvalle kiitokseksi vaikkapa korvakorut.

Taustalla kovasti kehutut Poshen nopeasti kuivuva aluslakka (vasemmalla) ja pikakuivattava päällyslakka, jonka luvataan kuivattavan kaikki lakkakerrokset kestäviksi viidessä minuutissa. Kun vielä jaksaisi ryhtyä kokeilemaan, näistä riittää sushukan kynsille kaunistusta pitkäksi toviksi. Flunssa on sitkeää ja vie veronsa, ei jaksa tehdä koruja eikä edes kynsiään lakata.

OPI "Bubble Bath", vaalea aavistuksen pinkkiin vivahtava nudelakka, sheer-tyyppinen eli ei kovin peittävä.
Seuraavana China Glaze "Trousseau", myös vaalea sheer-tyyppinen nudelakka.
Näitä ajattelin käyttää ranskalaiseen manikyyriin nyt, kun kynteni ovat melko lyhyet.

Keskellä China Glazen Romantique-kokoelmasta sävy "Poetic", hieman kupariin vivahtava persikkainen shimmerilakka.

Seuraavana ensimmäinen hologrammilakkani, China Glaze OMG! eli hopeanhohtoinen hologrammiglitteri.

Viimeisenä koristeluun ja juhlavaan viimeistelyyn hankkimani ohut hopeasävyinen glitterilakka, China Glazen "Tinsel".

I made an order to Head2Toe Beauty for some nail polishes, which are unavailable here in Finland. The shipping was very quick, amazingly so - these came just as fast as my beading orders. Everything was packed very well in a good cardboad box and every bottle had even its own bubble wrapping. Good job! There is a funny story with this shipment: when this arrived, I was in bed with terrible flu and fever and my husband was out walking our dogs. The doorbell rang, and I thought my husband was coming back and needed some help with the dogs. So I just took an old and not very pretty fleece jacket and put it over my pyjamas and staggered to the door. Oh my, when I opened the door, there was our mailman (who actually is a lady) standing with the box and arms full of other mail. She looked at me with some suprise on her face, seeing me there in that outfit, my nose and eyes quite red and my hair looking like a magpies nest. Se quickly flashed a broad smile at me and told, that everything didn't fit nicely into our mailbox so she decided to bring it indoors. How lovely of her - and how terrible for me! I was soooo ashamed! I think I have to make a pair of earrings or something for her to thank for this very unsual service. She is such a nice person!

Well, now back to the polishes. On the background we have Poshe quick drying base coat (on the left) and super fast drying top coat. I have read, that this top coat dries all layers of polish totally in just 5 minutes. Wonderful! I would like to begin testing all these, but I am still quite badly in the flu. I'm still too weak to make any jewellery or even polish my nails properly.

On the right is China Glaze "Tinsel", light silver glitter polish for nail art and festive polishes.

Päätin sitten siirtää nämä kynsilakkahömpötykset omaan blogiinsa, pois sotkemasta tuolta käsityöblogin puolelta. Kunhan saan tämän kuntoon ja joitakin järkeviä kuvia aikaan, alan esitellä hamstrauksiani ja kokeilujani.
