Onnettomuuksia - Nail Disasters

It has been a very long break in my blogging; I apologize to You, my dear reader. One of the reasons is shown in this picture: the worst of my late nail catastrophies. Quite a few other nails have also been bent, cracked, chipped, split - but this was the ultimate disaster. My grip slipped from a door handle, which was either wet or greasy, and of course the thumbnail was bent upwards and was torn. The picture tells it all - including the sad fact, that I had to use a band aid on my thumb for the rest of my day at work. The whole thumb was sore for a couple of days. The picture was taken at home after removing the polish and the first aid given with nail clippers and file.

The breakage was so bad and sore, that for the first time in my life I had to use an artificial nail. Awful, terrible. :( But I don't go and apply any "superglue" on my nails, so the only alternative in my local shopping centre was the product in the photo. On the box it said, that nails will come off after soaking them in warm water for 10 minutes. Well, I think it took at least 20 minutes, but the nail finally came off without damaging my nail surface. And I used the false nail on my thumb for a whole week.

That sounded like it really hurt! So sorry, I was wincing while reading this. Have you tried taking Biotin? It's really done wonders for peeling and breaking. I have not had any nail growth in years. Now I finally have longer nails. I even have a funky French manicure. I could never do one because I did not have any tip to my nails.

Lucy, thanks for the tip! I must try Biotin, it is also very good for hair. My nails do grow well, but they go weak and accidents happen, because I use them as tools. :) And I hardly ever wear gloves, no matter if I work in our kitchen garden or wash pots and pans (or rug carpets).
